Inside ArchestrA IDE it is possible to export automation objects and other parts of your galaxy. If you need to make a complete dump into a .cab file that can be used to restore or create a new galaxy from, you need to use the System Platform Management Console. It is also called SMC and is located in the Wonderware Utilities folder in the start menu.

In the SMC browse to the galaxy you want to backup in the Galaxy Database Manager dropdown tree.

From the Action menu in SMC, choose Backup while having the galaxy selected you want to backup.

It is important that noone is working on the galaxy while taking a backup. Data written to the galaxy repository while backup is running, can result in a corrupted backup or a backup that contains errors and inconsistencies when restored.

You can choose to place your backup .cab file anywhere you want, if you want to create a galaxy from a previously backup .cab file, read the article on how to do that.

Once the backup routine is finished you should have this status window writing 100% completed.
